First Visit
Your Child's First Visit
Every visit your child makes to our office is very important to us, but the most important is the first. You will see right away that our office is very child and family friendly. We want your child to be comfortable during all aspects of her appointment. Your child may watch a movie during her appointment or play hand-held video games. We use puppets to teach good brushing habits and give out cool prizes at the end of every visit. We encourage parents to hold younger children on their lap, especially during a first visit, so that they feel safe and secure during the appointment.
A typical initial visit includes a cleaning by our hygienist, fluoride treatment, and oral exam. Dr. Pacella may recommend an x-ray, which allows her to view the structure of the jaw, the position of any teeth that have not yet erupted, and whether tooth decay is present.
The initial visit involves getting your child's medical history. Be sure to provide complete, up-to-date information on your child's health. This information will help Dr. Pacella to select the most safe and effective method of treatment for your child.
Regular Appointments
Regular checkup appointments typically take 30 minutes. Unless your child is following a specific treatment plan, most six month follow up appointments include a cleaning by our hygienist, fluoride treatment, and oral exam. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.
